Eligible insurance carriers can request refunds of 2009 Workers Compensation Security Fund assessments through February 24, 2025, according to a recent announcement from the Pennsylvania Insurance Department.
Pennsylvania's Act 54, which was signed into law by Governor Shapiro last December, contains a provision requiring the department to issue refunds of the 2009 assessment to eligible carriers.
The refund is available to eligible carriers that originally paid the assessment as required by Pennsylvania Bulletin Notice 2010-01, originally issued on January 16, 2010.
A list of carriers eligible for a refund was published in the Pennsylvania Bulletin Notice 2024-13 on August 24 and is available here.
